Creating WinZip Files For Web
Sets
WinZip is a handy utility that takes a set of
files and compresses them into one easy download. The BETA
edition is free for anyone to use. You can find it at http://www.winzip.com
1. Open WinZip.
2. Click "NEW". This will open a new window, shown
below.

It is asking you for the name and location of the zip file you
are going to create. You can scroll around your computer for a
suitable location and name your zip file. For our purposes, type
in "Test" and click "OK"
3. You are instantly taken to a VERY similar screen. This is
the "Add" screen.

You add files by clicking on them with your mouse.
You can click on one file or on multiple files using
"shift" or "ctrl" keys. In the
"shift" method, click on the first file in a range of
files, then on the last file in a range of files.

In the above example, I clicked on the "artemis.jpg"
file, clicked and held the shift key, and then clicked on the
"basrelief3.jpg" file. That selected all the files from
the first one to the last one.
You can also choose individual files by using the
"ctrl" key and selecting any file in the same folder.

In the above example, I clicked on the "artemis.jpg"
file, held down the "ctrl" key and selected the
"basrelief1.psp" file and, without releasing the
"ctrl" key, chose the "basrelief3.jpg" file as
well.
Any and all files you choose will automatically be the BASE of
your zip files. You can choose one file only and add files later,
or choose many and delete them later. For our purposes, choose ONE
file now and click "ADD".
You are taken to the main WinZip view, where your chosen file(s)
are showing.

Believe it or not, you're done
making a zip file! You can choose "File - Close Archive"
and your zip file will close. There is no "save"
feature, it just IS saved.
Now, if your zip file needs more files, or needs
some deleted, you do have more work.
To add: Click "ADD" and repeat step 3
above.
To delete: Highlight the file you wish to delete
and click your "delete" key. You can also right click
and choose "delete". This will remove the file.
Adding Your Zip File to Your Web
Site
When you've created a zip file, upload the file to your web
site or web host. On your web set page, or any page for that
matter, add a hyperlink that points to the file, kind of like you
would add a picture.
Click
Here
Now anyone can download all the graphics, fonts, notes and faq
pages you might want to send along with your web sets.
