Using Fonts in PSP
Finding fonts on the internet can be the most fun,
most time-consuming and most space-wasting activity for graphic
creators. The first task in this tutorial is to find a font you want
to use. Here are five of my favorite font sites:
-
1001
Fonts - http://www.1001fonts.com/ - Has a great search
engine, faq pages, and links to more font sites.
-
Dinc!
- http://www.girlswhowearglasses.com/ - A great site with
uniquely created fonts they share for free. Includes some
interesting ding (graphic) fonts, too.
-
Fontennium
- http://www.moorstation.org/fontennium/fontennium.htm - Looking
for a medieval or fantasy font? This is the PLACE. It doesn't
get better than Fontennium for fantastic fonts.
-
DaFont.com
- http://www.dafont.com/en/ - A great listing, covers a lot of
subjects. Easy to navigate and to seek out just what you're
looking for.
How to Install
Once you've downloaded the font to your computer,
open the file in WinZip. (Most fonts come in WinZip form.) Extract
the file to your c:\windows\fonts file
folder. Then you MUST go to that file on your computer and it will
open the font file. In other words, even though you put the file
into c:\windows\fonts, the font isn't
installed. You need to use your "My Computer" folder to go
to c:\windows\fonts. Once that folder
is open, you'll see your window flicker, flash, or possibly do
nothing at all, but the font will be installed.

How to Use Without Installing
If you are only using the font once for a special
project, you may find you don't want to save it at all. All you
really need to do to see a font in PSP is to open the file and have
it sitting open while you have PSP going. Once the file is open,
you'll see the font appear in your drop down list. You don't
even need to open and close PSP. And yes - this works in ALL
VERSIONS, as far as I've been told. (I know 7, 8, & 9)

You
can keep the font minimized during use, too.

just get confused?
